0:23.6	The last couple of days we have been looking at the name of God as our Father.
0:41.3	And today I want to come to one of those expressions near the end of the New Testament,
0:46.3	a verse that I actually alluded to a couple of episodes ago, but now I want us to really delve into.
0:52.3	It's found in the book of James, which I think is beautiful
0:56.5	because you'll remember that James is a book that is very practical. It makes a difference in the way
1:02.8	we live our life. Our faith is to be evident by our works day by day. And so in the midst of this book, we have this beautiful theological
1:13.3	section about God as our father. Why would that be? Well, I believe it's because the father
1:19.4	wants obedient children. The father expects his children to reflect him in this world. So what do we
1:26.4	learn about our father? Well, the verse is James
1:29.6	chapter one, verse number 17, and it says this, every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.
1:37.9	And cometh down from the father of lights with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
1:46.2	Of his own will, begat he us with the word of truth,
1:50.1	that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.
1:55.0	So here we have the Heavenly Father,
1:56.8	but he's referred to specifically by this expression,
2:00.7	the Father of Lights.
2:03.5	Isn't that an amazing, amazing expression, the Father of Lights?
2:07.3	What could that mean?
2:08.8	Well, we know, of course, his nature is light.
