| 0:41.3 | Well, I wanted to see with my own eyes the conditions and talk to some of the people being detained there. |
| 0:47.5 | I showed up unannounced because, you know, I wanted to really get a sense of what it's actually like |
| 0:53.3 | and, you know, have a chance to be able to talk to some of the people, including someone named Kareem Daud, a man from Hunterding County, 21 years that he's been in the United States. |
| 1:04.6 | He has a U.S. citizen wife, two U.S. citizen little kids. |
| 1:09.1 | He's been held there over 40 days. |
| 1:10.9 | ICE themselves tell me that he has no criminal history. |
| 1:15.8 | And so, you know, he was asked to go to an ICE office to clear up a mistake and was detained there. |
| 1:21.6 | I just wanted to go and talk to him, see how he's doing. |
| 1:25.4 | And I tell you, it was heartbreaking. |
| 1:27.0 | Hear him feel like he's losing hope that he will be able to him, see how he's doing. And I tell you, it was heartbreaking. Hear him feel like he's losing hope that he will be able to be here in this country as a free man again with his two kids, with his wife, with his family. |
| 1:37.8 | You know, this is what I want the American people to see, that when the Trump administration says that they're going after violent criminals and the worst that are out there, |
| 1:45.6 | which I think a lot of us would agree, you know, shouldn't be staying here in the United States. |
| 1:51.0 | In fact, they're going after people like Kareem, people who owns a business, owns a restaurant, |
| 1:56.7 | has been paying taxes, has a lovely family here. |
| 2:00.1 | And that is something I hope the vast majority Americans understand is not right. |
