Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible,

chapter by chapter, book by book.

From the very beginning, God created people to be part of a family.

We are all sons or daughters,

perhaps fathers or mothers, brothers or sisters. But each one of us may think somewhat differently about family relations. We may have different understandings about what a family is and what

makes a strong family. Today on Searchlight, we will get a heavenly perspective on family from Jesus himself.

And it is interesting that Jesus gives us this teaching about family while he was nailed to the cross.

Let's now join Pastor John as he begins this teaching from John chapter 19 called the Family Tree.

John 1925.

Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother and his mother's sister and Mary the wife of Cleopas, and Mary Magdalene.

When Jesus, therefore, saw his mother and the disciple standing by whom he loved,

he saith unto his mother, woman, behold thy son.

Then saith he to the disciple, behold thy son then saith he to the disciple behold thy mother and from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home crucifixion was developed by the Persians, today called the Iranians, around the year 1000 BC.

It was designed by the Persians to be exceedingly and excruciatingly painful.
