Summary
As Evelyn’s dementia worsened, her family reorganized their lives to keep her in the home she loved. At first, the strange moments felt easy enough to explain—misplaced objects, late-night conversations, and an old porcelain doll that kept appearing in different parts of the house.
But the atmosphere inside the home kept changing.
The upstairs hallway grew unnaturally cold. Knocking echoed from behind a linen closet no one wanted to open after dark. And every night, Evelyn carried the doll upstairs and waited beside the same door as though someone on the other side was expected to answer her.
Then someone heard whispering inside the closet.
And by the time the family finally left the house behind, they began to realize something terrifying:
