Summary

As we continue our series, “Till He Appears”, Grant shows us how the story of the sacrifice of Isaac ultimately predicted the coming of our Savior. Grant contrasts how the testing of Abraham’s faith and his willingness to sacrifice his only son, shows us how God has never failed His children. God sacrificed His only Son so we could be free.

Genesis 22

1. Our faith will be tested

2. Faith in God is followed by obedience to God

3. God faithfully provided the sacrifice

Life Group Questions:

James 1:2-3 says, “…the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” When was a time that your faith was tested and what did you learn about the character of God from this experience?

How can you step outside of your comfort zone to grow in your faith?

John 9:25 says, “…I was blind and now I can see.” When was there a pivotal point in your faith where you had to put your trust in the Lord instead of on your own understanding?

And so thank you just to Harris Creek for everything that you've just been for me and my wife. One of the biggest blessings for us is our newly married life group. And what it teaches you is that how you like to

1:11.2

receive love is often how you like to extend love. It's really important in marriage that I

1:17.3

realized I was not doing a good job on, and it just reminded me about a conversation with my wife.

1:22.7

And so if you've ever interacted with my wife, Maddie, she can be stern. I mean, she has this kind of passionate sternness to her. And I got the text that no husband wants to get, and it's, can we talk? And no emojis, no nothing, just kind of the period. Can we talk? And I'm like, all right, what happened? What did I do? I'm kind of going through my mind. And I show up and she looks at me and just the sweetest face, she goes, Grant, I'm so thankful for all the notes you give me. And at this point, my love language is words of affirmation. So I'm like, yes, you know, fill my tank. How good am I doing? And a little backstory, I like love to notes. And I feel like I can kind of step into this like Shakespeare, kind of Bruno Mars, like I'll

catch a grenade, I'll step in front of the train.

2:08.4

I love it.

2:09.4

I feel alive because I love to receive words.
