So I'm recording a quick introduction for this episode which we're very excited to share

with you. This one's a little different. We had on our producer Jesse Brennan out from

behind the soundboard grabbing the third mic and we have a long conversation about a really

incredible TV show from the 90s called Walker Texas Ranger. It played for eight seasons

on CBS. It starred Chuck Norris, the great Chuck Norris who also was its executive producer

and it's been a long time obsession of Jesse's but it's also a great window into well the

zeitgeist of America in the 90s but especially what a show based in Texas, a crime drama,

a crime action show I should really say. You know what kind of insights can be gleaned

about law and order politics, the American right, politics in the 90s, the issues that

we're percolating. A lot of them resonate with us still here today, stranger danger, satanic

panics, child trafficking, drugs, crime, law and order, all that's here but in a slightly

different form. So we talked about conservatism in the 90s, the kind of politics of this show

that was popular. It was a top 20, top 25 show for a couple years. So we had a lot of fun

with this and unlike some of our episodes, there's actually a lot of great sound clips

that Jesse edited in so you get a flavor for the universe of Walker Texas Ranger. But
