Summary

Every parent who cares about health eventually hits this wall: your kids don't want to do what you know is good for them β€” and the more you push, the harder they pull away.

In this episode, we tackle Chase Club member Brendan's question about getting his 16-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter to move consistently, despite shared custody.

We dig into why the modeling you do today isn't for the teenager in front of you β€” it's for the 26-year-old they'll become. We explore the power of structured environments over parent-led training, how external rewards bridge to internal motivation, and why finding the right entry point matters more than finding the perfect program.

He says he sends over, I'm a business owner, committed fitness enthusiasts. I've been active in the CrossFit community since 2012. I've got two kids, a 16-year-old son and a 13-year-old daughter, and I'm struggling with how to best instill healthy movement and fitness habits in them without creating resistance. My son has worked out with me in the past, but both at a regular gym and occasionally at CrossFit. He then got busy with Cross Country, and I was happy he was active. Now that track is over, I'm finding it very difficult to get him to continue any regular fitness routine with me.
