Hey folks, as you heard, this morning, the Supreme Court officially overturned Roe v. Wade,

the 50-year-old precedent that secured the constitutional right to an abortion in the

United States. Today's opinion in the case of dobs of the Jackson Women's Health Organization

comes just short of two months after a draft of Justice Alito's majority opinion was

leaked to the media. The news is to put it simply, harsh. In reversing

Roe, the court effectively leaves the right to an abortion in the hands of states, 26

of which might ban nearly all abortions in the wake of this decision. As we all

process this historic ruling and this watershed moment, I join my cafe insider

co-host Joyce Vance to talk about the opinion, its implications for the court, its

implications for women, and of course for the whole country. Given the importance

Joyce, so here we are on the afternoon of June 24th and about 2.30 p.m., which is

not a usual time for our taping, but we are compelled to be here to talk about the

Supreme Court opinion that was not unanticipated in the dobs case, which is

done what everyone predicted. Roe was overturned. There's no longer a

constitutional right to an abortion in this country, and we're still making our

way through the document. We'll have a lot more analysis on this when we get

together next Tuesday, but we thought it was imperative that we talk about it a

little bit. What do you make of the opinion and how are you reacting to it?
