First up, in recent weeks, the British government has been drawing up plans to allow

former colonial subjects in Hong Kong to have a longer visa stay in the UK.

But in the cover piece this week, Fraser Nelson argues that this doesn't go far enough.

Instead, we should be offering all three million Hong Kongers who are eligible for the status,

full citizenship. He joins me down the line now, together with Professor Geoffrey Vasselstrom,

author of Vigil, Hong Kong on the Brink. So, Fraser, can you tell us first of all about this campaign?

Well, the campaign is a rather long-standing one for the spectator. When the handover of Hong Kong

was agreed back in the 80s, when it was still a British colony, we argued that it's okay to give

a territory back to China. That was in the 100-year lease, but you shouldn't parcel

off the people as well. If they were born British, they ought to be given the choice of

coming to live and work in Britain if they chose. If they were happy to stay in China and they

believed in this one country two systems deal which had been struck in the sign a British

Treaty of 1984, then sure,
