mark on the world, they were people like you and me, still figuring out what they wanted

You're kneeling with your sister Ruth on your living room couch, noses pressed against

the glass window.

The circus is in town, and the parade is passing right by your house.

You wish you could run out and join the crowd as they wave and cheer, but you're stuck

inside.

Ruth is sick, so this year there will be no trip to the circus for either of you.

As the parade turns the corner and out of view, you and Ruth flop down on the living room
