And how did Donna Adelson feel about Dan Markell in 2014?

I mean, she hated him.

According to Donna Adelson's oldest son, Robert Adelson, Donna hated her former son-in-law.

41-year-old Dan Markell was a Florida State University law professor who was shot and killed just after pulling his car into his driveway on July 18, 2014.

Dan had been married to Wendy Adelson, Donna Adelson's daughter.

But the marriage didn't work out.

Wendy left Dan, and in July 2013, their divorce was

finalized. But there were still plenty of things for Dan and Wendy to argue about through the court

system, whether it was money owed, property the other still had possession of, or most importantly,

the custody of their two young children

who were three and four at the time. One of their main points of contention, according to the

prosecution, was a relocation motion that Wendy had filed, requesting permission to move with

their kids to Miami, where her family lived.

That motion had been denied with prejudice, meaning it could never be requested again.

But after Dan was murdered on July 18, 2014, Wendy and the two children did move to Miami,

just days later, in fact, to be with Wendy's family, which included her mother Donna, father Harvey, and older brother Charlie. After a rigorous investigation by the

Tallahassee Police Department, along with the FBI, two hitmen from Miami were arrested and

charged with Dan's murder in May 2016.

One of the hitmen, Louis Rivera, pleaded guilty and agreed to testify against not only the other hitman,

his best friend, Siegfriedo Garcia, but everyone else the state prosecuted in connection with the murder.
