Welcome to the Docket.

0:30.0

Presented by Defense Diaries, this is part two of our continuing coverage, making the case for Avery's innocence, the people of Wisconsin versus Stephen Avery.

0:40.0

So we'd originally planned to get all of these episodes out consecutively on the Docket.

0:45.0

You know, and we're not certain at this point how many episodes it's going to be. We're going to be doing a deep dive into the case.

0:51.0

We're going to be going straight to first source material. We're looking at direct appeals.

0:57.0

We're looking at post-conviction relief act petitions. So we're going to be digging in hard and we're going to be at this point diving into the arrest and the trial, particularly in this episode.

1:11.0

And I realized that originally in our first episode in this series that I had talked about how Alison and I had not rewatched making of a murderer, well, since there's been such a long gap in between the first and the second episode.

1:26.0

So we took it upon ourselves to actually watch not only the first part, which is 10 episodes, but we also watched the second part, which is basically Netflix following or the documentarians following Zelliner around as she prepares her amended post-conviction relief act petition.

1:42.0

But it makes for very interesting watching. And you know, the one thing that I want to make clear right up front as we're going through this series.

1:50.0

And I think I said something to this effect in the first episode. Look, there are going to be people out there that may know more facts than we do.

1:57.0

We are going to our very best to cover every fact. And that includes everything that we felt that making the murder or making of a murder is kept out in the documentary.

2:07.0

And they did keep some major facts out that came up in trial. We're not going to do that. We want everything out there because we want to give an honest evaluation of whether or not we believe that Avery is sitting as an incident.

2:19.0

And the only way to do that is to look at all the facts. We can't paint it with whatever brush that we want to paint in order to try to have a position on it.

2:29.0

The only way that we can do it is by looking at everything and seeing if there's an answer for everything. If they're saying that they found DNA under the hood latch of Teresa's rap 4, then we need that address.

2:41.0

Because that is a fact that was entered into evidence, but which was ignored on the docu-series.

2:48.0

So we're not going to do that. We're going to give you everything and we'll see where it lands.

2:52.0

So one thing that's evident is I have gone far too long in this episode, two and a half minutes without introducing my amazing and fantastic and beautiful co-host, Alison Mata.

3:07.0

Hey, what's up, Ali? Hey, babe.

3:09.0

Hari, it seems like it's been too long.

3:11.0

I know. It definitely has been. I've been wondering when we're going to get back to this.

3:15.0

Yeah, I mean, in reality, just so y'all know, Alison is doing double duty as most of you are aware, she is still actively practicing.

3:24.0

And we thought, and this is being recorded, I believe August 17th might be the 18th.
