In my prior episode, my pal Aaron and I scratched the surface of this case by discussing clowns in general, sharing our memories of Clotsie the Clown

And of course reviewing the agreed statements of facts that accompanied his plea of guilty related to charges of sex crimes against child

Tonight we're going to again explore this story but from a unique point of view

As you heard in my prior episode while researching Dale Rancourt's life and crimes, I came across a documentary that was filmed about him

It was shot in 2011, several years before his addition to Canada's sex offender registry

The film, which sets out to understand the then well-known children's entertainer, is called Big Shoes

It was made by two Halifax-based journalism students, Michael Freeman and Adrian Lee

Although it received some acclaim at the time of its initial release, Big Shoes really doesn't age well

And that's not because of any of the creative or technical decisions made by its filmmakers

See this film celebrates a now disgraced children's entertainer and leaves out the topic that dominates any discussion of a Dale Clotsie the Clown Rancourt

And that's of course the sexual defenses he committed against a child within the years after the film was released

After watching this film, I was very interested in hearing how the filmmakers have dealt with such a spoiled creation

And I of course invited them to share their thoughts and their memories here with you

And that's what we're about to get into
