| 0:48.9 | Danette and Jeanette were 15 and twins, but in different grades. |

| 0:54.8 | They'd be allowed to finish out the year at Lucy Laney, their old high school, |
| 0:58.5 | but their bus would no longer pick them up. |
| 1:01.2 | Their mother, Louise, didn't want them walking all that way alone, nearly three miles one way, |
| 1:06.4 | but she didn't have money to give them for a week's ride on the city bus. |
| 1:10.4 | So they called their godfather Ted, who lived in their old neighborhood, Bethlehem, |
| 1:14.5 | and he agreed to supply the $20 they'd need. They decided to walk to his house to retrieve it. |
