case, it just brings tears to my eyes. It's absolutely devastating. You were listening to Canadian

Gothic. Hello, listeners, we have an

important story to revisit tonight. With over 10 years of Canadian crime podcasting in my rearview

mirror, I've covered a lot of ground. But that said, there's one story that I always find myself

coming back to. And each time I do, I find myself as puzzled as I am disturbed.

It happened in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, back in April of 2016.

Sixteen-year-old Michaela Bali was dropped off at school that morning, but she didn't go to

class.

Instead, she spent her day alone, making a series of seemingly inconsequential stops around

town.

She browsed a buy-and-sell shop, she grabbed a few bucks from a bank machine, fiddled

on her phone at Tim Hortons and got lunch at a local diner.

But then the trail stops.

The 16-year-old seems to have simply vanished. And as you probably know,

young girls don't simply vanish, so something happened. I first covered Michaela's story back in 2017.

Just about a year after her disappearance, her mother Paul had joined us to tell us about the case.

And then in 2021, around the six-year anniversary when significant developments were released,

I released a follow-up episode.
