of debt and save more money.

I wanted to do a little addendum on what we were talking about with spending savings,

what it all means, and a reader, a listener wrote in and said, maybe it's just the tense.

The tense of money is what I started to think, if money has a tense, past tense might

be debt, present tense is spending, and future tense is savings.

And it's all just spending, past spending, present spending, future spending.

What would retirement be?

Just future, just further in the future.

You know, you're just sticking the money in something else, but it's still savings

eventually for spending.

And that can perhaps take away a little bit of the, for some reason, we attribute these

labels to money and try and treat them differently, and I'm not sure why it's all really meant

to spend.

And I think if you frame it that way, it helps you let go of some things.

Like, we often will say, well, I should be saving, I should be saving, I should be.

Well, yes, saving to spend it.

So if you're saving up to then spend on a down payment for a house, and then you actually

spend that money on the house, are you supposed to feel bad that you reversed all of that savings?

Savings is just future tense of money.

And just like in language where you say, I did that, I'm doing that, I will do that.
