And at this point in the week, given that it is the bye week, I want to take a moment to do a temperature check, a state of the Eagles, if you will.

And I also want to talk a little bit about quarterback Jalen Hertz.

And we'll start with him because he's off to a remarkable start this season, completing 151 out of 21515 pass attempts for 1,67 yards, 15 touchdowns against just one interception,

and he has the longest 79 yards, which was that touchdown to Devante Smith on the play

action against Minnesota, quarterback rating of 114, quarterback rating a 67.1.

He's been sacked 25 times.

So for Jalen Hertz, this is a new offense, of course,

helmed by offensive coordinator, Kevin Petulow.

But I think everything that Jalen discussed in the offseason at training camp

and everything that we saw was a quarterback who

was in full command and it's been sort of ingrained in him to play a risk-averse style

but I think what J-1's doing this year is he's still abiding by that but he's being strategic

in when he's taking those chances.

He's not running as much this season.

I think that's something that we all were expecting a little bit more of from him.

But I think actually he's carried the ball just 58 times for 207 yards and five touchdowns,

averaging 25.9 yards per game, which is low, considering

his average in his career is 39.3. But he's finding different ways to win. He's facilitating

the ball to different players. He's decisive. He's fitting the ball into tight windows.

He has a really good feel for what defense is looking to do.
