The New Discourses Podcast with James Lindsay, Episode 107 Nothing Woke stays the same. The revolution must be perpetual, and the advances of yesterday are the new right wing of today. This is true even in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), which has now already developed through several different iterations and implementation styles to arrive at CASEL's "systemic" implementation of "Transformative Social-Emotional Learning," which is explicitly Freirean and Marxist. Even though it only emerged in 2019, by the next year, radicals in education were already writing "radical reports" (a "radport") about how it doesn't go nearly far enough and is "white supremacy with a hug." Instead, they recommended something far, far more explicitly Communist called "Culturally Affirming SEL." In 2021, they had already begun petitioning Biden's Department of Education to incorporate Culturally Affirming SEL and its "SEL demands," adapted explicitly from the Black Panther Party, into US education as soon as possible. As you'll hear, it doesn't even mention academic competency at all! 0:24.8	Lindsay. We're going to talk about the dialectic of social emotional learning and the kind
0:28.5	of the dialectical progression of leftist agendas in general. I know a lot of you are getting
0:32.9	tired of all these social emotional learning podcasts. Well, go do the work and then social
0:37.6	emotional learning. So I don't have to talk about it anymore. This is an extremely important topic.
0:41.4	And what I'm going to present today, I don't know if that's for sure where things are going to go.
0:47.2	This was what I'm going to share with you is a document that was sent to Biden's Department of
0:51.7	Education. It was written in 2020 by a very radical group called the Center for Justice
0:58.8	Schools Fund. It was sent in, they don't even call it a report. By the way, they call it a
1:04.9	rad port, a radical report, a rad port. It's so radical that they have to make up a word for what
1:10.8	they've written. And they sent it to Biden's Department of Education with a fancy cover letter
1:17.1	in 2021 soon after he took office. And are they going to adopt it or not? I don't know. If we
1:25.6	search on the Department of Education website, if we search in the Office of Elementary and
1:30.7	Secondary Education, you find a lot of language kind of consistent with the idea of what they call
1:35.9	in this rad port, a culturally affirming social emotional learning. But you don't find anything
1:41.3	terribly explicit yet. So whether it goes there or not, this is going to represent the radical
1:47.5	Vanguard of the transformation of a leftist agenda. And I want to make it very clear that what we
1:52.0	have is that everything that criticizes its previous thing and leftism is an advancement of that
1:58.8	previous thing. It is not a repudiation of that thing. It is an advancement of that thing.
2:03.9	So where we've heard, for example, radical activists sometimes call social emotional learning
2:08.8	or even transformative social emotional learning, which is the new explicitly Marxist, explicitly
2:14.8	critical consciousness raising version that emerged in 2019, calling it white supremacy with a hug.
