1:05.0	Now that I'm older, I no longer picture a red-skinned, horned figure lurking in the corner, waiting for an opportunity to take over my consciousness.
1:15.0	To me, the devil is more of an abstract idea, the collective understanding of what we as a society have deemed to be evil.

1:29.0	But according to a 2016 Statista Survey, more than half of Americans believe in the devil as a spiritual being with influence.
1:38.0	So, in 1981, when a defendant on trial for murder attempted to use demonic possession as a defense for the first time in US history, it brought into the mainstream this fear many have.
1:53.0	That the devil is real and can make us commit evil acts.
2:02.0	The court accepts the existence of God every time a witness swears to tell the truth.
2:08.0	I think it's about time they accept the existence of the devil.
