The defense attorneys filed a motion for discovery. These motions are pretty standard.

You expect them to be filed in cases like this, or virtually any criminal case whatsoever.

We thought it might be interesting to go through it, paragraph by paragraph, and see if there is anything in it, which might offer some sort of clues or insights into what the defense attorneys may be thinking.

Keep in mind that with episodes like this, we're reading through it, and we're giving you our initial impressions, and we're trying to give you a sense of, you know, what we have a good sense of, and what we don't necessarily know and want more information about.

One thing that it's important to remember is that discovery is basically the process by which the defense discovers all the information about the case.

That's putting it in extreme layman's terms, but essentially as Kevin has said on the show multiple times before, the power of the state to deprive somebody of their liberty is pretty awesome in the classical sense.

It's awe-inspiring. It's very intense.

Basically, the state is presumed to have a lot more power than any individual defense attorney. So the prosecution has to basically turn over their entire case to the defense for the defense to look through and formulate a defense strategy.
