The second after he was kidnapped by Lord Dennis Darkland. The Defiance of Duskendale was a

momentous event in the recent history of

Lestros taking place about 20 years before the start of the books. Most of you know the basics,

but here's a summary. Duskendale had a grievance regarding restrictions and taxes, and they proposed some

changes. Hand to the King Tywin said no. Lord Darklin, ruler of the town, protested by refusing to pay taxes, then invited the

king to come in person to discuss the issue.

Taiwan strongly advised against this, but Ares was in that phase where he frequently did

the opposite of whatever Taiwan advised or ruled, and off he went.

It was a trap.

They kidnapped him to use as leverage for their original grievance.

Taiwan showed up with the army and acted like Taiwan does.

Give back the king and surrender or the town is annihilation.

A return threat was issued.

Do that and the king dies.
