Good morning. I'm Anna Palmer. And I'm Jake Sherman. And welcome to The Daily Punch,

brought you by Punchable News. It's Monday, July 1st, 2024. Let's get into the mix. Here are your Washington headlines of the day. Number one, we've got fallout from the first

presidential debate. Number two, a top Democratic aide heads to Kay Street and number three,

the latest from the canvas. All right, let's get into it this morning. Jake, there continues to be

followed from President Joe Biden's disastrous debate performance on Thursday. The Sunday shows

were full of Democrats trying to downplay, dismiss, or explain away what happened to Biden

during the Atlanta debate. Their answers weren't great, and it underscores the lose-lose

situation Democrats now face.

It's pretty amazing.

There's very few storylines that continue to take up oxygen, you know, 2448, much less 72 plus hours later.

But certainly for Democrats and for anybody who's watching politics in America, trying to figure out and game out the

future of Joe Biden's candidacy here and reelection is all that everyone's focused on.

Well, Anna, today was supposed to be theoretically in an alternate universe, and in EarthB, I guess we'll call it, this morning was supposed to be,

we would have focused 100% on the Supreme Court, which is issuing its last decisions of the

session today, including whether Donald Trump is immune from prosecution on the January 6th attack in the Capitol. That is probably one of the

biggest Supreme Court decisions in, I don't know, probably American history, right? I mean,

whether presidents are immune from prosecution. And we are focused again this morning on what's driving the narrative for all of our audience or a
