In 2010, 20-year-old

of the La Crosse area passed away after overdosing on heroin, which was

supplied by her boyfriend Mitchell Perner. He provided the drug to her twice in one night.

Perner was convicted of first-degree reckless homicide in 2011 and sentenced to 12 years in prison,

while the dealer who sold him the heroine,

Corey Coopman of Sparta, received an eight-year sentence.
