Well, we're very, very delighted to have you here. It's a tough topic to talk about. You've written extensively on this topic and an extremely important topic because we live in such a death culture. As a matter of fact, you write, the complex paradoxical relationship with death

in the consumerist West

is playing out in ways that are quite dramatic.

Our culture is now at a tipping point

when it comes to physician-assisted killing.

I think I know exactly what you mean, but please explain, elucidate.

So especially as the culture is secularized, and especially as medicine has secularized,

we've lost a sense of what actually makes people valuable, a foundational question.

Like, what is it that gives us dignity, that gives us fundamental equality?
