This episode is for Kyle Risa, who asked for a special podcast about what happened on

September 11th, 2001.

This one's for you, Kyle.

The story that I'm going to tell you today is one of the saddest and most tragic parts

of United States history.

Even if you were very young or not yet born, you have probably heard of what happened

in New York City on September 11th, 2001.

That day and the weeks that followed are seared into my memory because it is by far the

most horrible foreign attack on American soil in my lifetime.

On that day, remembered now as 9-11, Americans awoke to their usual morning routine, unaware

that in just a few short hours, our lives would forever be altered.

I remember that morning was just like every other morning, caring for my children and

the two little girls I named.

It was while we Americans went about our business that wicked men who were bent on evil deeds

boarded four passenger jet airliners.

American soldiers had for years been involved with peacekeeping attempts in various countries

overseas, but an attack of this size right here on the mainland of America was, well,

it was simply unthinkable.
