| 0:00.0 | All right, team, welcome to The Man Talk Show. I am Connor Beaton. |
| 0:03.8 | And today we're going to be talking about the mating crisis. |
| 0:07.2 | We're going to be talking about what the hell is happening in modern dating. |
| 0:11.4 | There's some very interesting research that we're going to talk about that's coming out that is showing a real discrepancy for young men in modern dating and also for women. |
| 0:25.3 | And I get asked a lot to comment about relationships and dynamics. |
| 0:29.6 | But sometimes it's good to go into the research, the science behind it. |
| 0:33.8 | And so today I'm going to read you a piece by the professor of psychology at the University of Texas, |
| 0:40.1 | Austin, and author of When Men Behave Badly, which is actually quite a good book, David M. Buss. |
| 0:47.4 | And the title of this is called The Mating Crisis Among Educated Women. |

| 1:31.4 | And of those 1.5 million less students, it was predominantly men. It was 71% men. So less men are |
| 1:39.9 | going to college. Less men are getting college degrees. And there's a number of reasons for that |
| 1:45.0 | that we could talk about. But the implications of that are that less men are within that sort of |
| 1:51.6 | dating pool where they would normally meet women. And according to some Pew research that came out |
| 1:56.8 | recently, 51% of men between the ages of 18 and 29 are single compared to 32% of women |
| 2:05.8 | between ages 18 and 29 that are single. So very interesting. So there's a big sort of shift |
| 2:13.2 | that's happening within modern culture. And there's a number of reasons for this. And we're going to dive into it. |
| 2:18.8 | But I thought I would read you this article by David Buss because it's brief, |
| 2:26.9 | but I think it's quite telling in terms of the sort of seismic shift that's happening |
