What's about to happen starts at the intersection of Young and Finch in the northern part of the city.

It's one of Toronto's business districts, and there are plenty of people walking around enjoying the day.

The white van approaches the intersection and turns on to Young.

It aims for the sidewalk and accelerates.

The minutes later. The video shows a man outside of a white band and a standoff with a lone armed police officer.

The man is holding something dark in his hand. He says he has a gun.

He asks to be shocked.

He asks to be shocked.

He repeatedly makes rapid and aggressive movements towards his waistband and motions like he's drawing a weapon.

In a moment that defies belief, the officer doesn't pull his trigger.

He puts away his gun, takes out his baton, and brandishes it. The man who is clearly trying to die

by suicide by police immediately gives up and goes to the ground. He is arrested and brought to a police station.

In Canada, that's a formal process, and they record those moments.

And it's here, flinked by two police officers, that 25-year-old Alec Menassian makes clear that

he knows exactly why he's here.

Yes, I'm a murdering piece of shit.
