She, of course, as you know, is the mother of Dan Markell, the FSU law professor who was gunned down in his Tallahassee driveway, July 18, 2014, succumbing to his injuries the very next day.

And yet, despite all of it, Ruth is here to share what she still finds gratitude for,

from law enforcement and prosecutors to even Judge Stephen Everett overseeing the case,

and even to content creators who help keep Dan's memory alive.

And it was Canadian Thanksgiving a few weeks ago and now American Thanksgiving.

And someone who has shown more strength, grace, and perseverance than most of us could ever imagine, Ruth Markell, the mother

of murdered FSU law professor Dan Markell, joins us more than 11 years after her son was

taken from us in this horrendous

murder for hire plot. And it is a case that continues to unfold all this time later. And yet,

Ruth comes here not with anger, but with gratitude. Gratitude for the detectives and investigators.

Without those investigators, there may never have been any trials. Gratitude for the detectives and investigators without those investigators there may never

have been any trials uh gratitude for the prosecutors who put it all together and even the judge

who has presided over this case with a lot of dignity and for the community writ large uh the justice

for dan markill community uh including all the content creators.

This is not about reliving tragedy.
