She's standing up to the evil in making sure that we all grow strong enough

To break these change we're in

They keep us in this painful condition

She gave us truth and division

And when that is happening in a city that is 61% African American,

when we know that in the state of Tennessee there is no other community like

it when it is the second largest city in the state this is intentionally a dilution of political

power but it's a delusion of political power in pageantry because the reality is these are not

communities that are going to stop the conservative bent of Tennessee.

But they are citizens of Tennessee who deserve access to leadership that can hear them, see them, and respond to them.

And as Congressman Cohen pointed out, when you target communities of color, when you target African-American communities,

and specifically when Tennessee targets Memphis, that is a direct and intentional declaration that those votes don't matter and that those voices should be ignored. And at a time when we are watching a resurgence of racial animus, at a time when communities of color are already under siege.

It is a deeply disturbing truth that Memphis, the place where Dr. King gave his life,

is being told that your voices are so irrelevant that we will deny you even one voice in Congress,

that one voice out of nine is too much for you. That is a very clear signal
