Summary

We recorded this episode from Big Sky, Montana at the annual Spotter Creator Summit - four days with some of the top creators in the world talking about where this industry is actually headed. And one idea kept coming up over and over again: We’ve officially entered the era of abundance. There is more good content, more creators, and more competition for attention than ever before. Streamers are courting creators. AI is accelerating production. And brands have more options than they know what to do with. So the real question going into 2026 isn’t “How do I grow?” It’s: How do I become memorable? In this episode, we break down what we’re hearing directly from creators, platforms, and brands—including insights from Issa Rae, conversations happening inside the summit, and Adam Mosseri’s New Year’s post about authenticity and AI. We talk about: Why “just making good videos” isn’t enough anymore How creators need to start telling the story of the story What’s changing in brand deals (and why short-form and long-form are diverging) Why streamers are suddenly paying closer attention to creators How AI changes the meaning of authenticity And what it takes to make something that can’t be summarized This episode is about the next phase of the creator economy—and the shift from chasing views to building something people actually remember. And it's going to be interesting to follow and really see, like, what does it mean to be a creator? When I think of creator, I think of Instagram, I think of YouTube. I don't think of Netflix. But maybe I will in the future. I don't know. Who knows? Who knows? All right. So we are here in Montana, Big Sky, Montana, the site of the fourth annual Spotter Creator Summit.

1:28.5

It's something that we do every year, get together with a bunch of top creators, have a week

1:52.1

If you're listening, I imagine you're like, oh, Samir, I also spent New Year's Eve reading

1:56.2

Adam Messary's Instagram post. Of course. You know what? I'm going to say, I bet you there's other people out there who did that. New Year's Eve. Yeah, comment on this on Spotify or send us a tweet. If you were like me, cozied up by the fire, swiping through Adam Messeri's 20 slide Instagram post about the future of Instagram. Maybe one of you printed it out. Truly riveting. Made it into a book.

2:36.2

It was riveting. It was riveting and we're going to dive into it. All right. So let's start with what we're doing here in Montana and some things that we're learning from other creators. So every year for the last four years, Samir and I with Spotter, we host this summit with a ton of top creators.
