0:43.5	Today we are talking about the Cowden family. Who would go on a fun family camping trip during the Labor Day weekend of 1974?
0:53.5	And this decision would lead to a mystery more than 50 years old.
0:59.4	Now, the family lived in White City, Oregon. Richard was 28 and worked as a logging truck driver,
1:06.2	and his wife, Belinda, was 22. They had two children, David, who was five, and Melissa, who was five months.
1:13.3	And the family loved to camp. So she had David when she was like 17.
1:18.6	On August 30 of 1974, Richard and Belinda took their two children and their Basset Hound,
1:25.7	Droopy, who was a puppy, by the way, they went camping at Sisku Mountains,
1:31.8	which are a coastal subrange of the Klamath Mountains in northwestern California and southwestern Oregon.
1:41.2	And they would be on the Oregon side in a town named Cooperville. Now, Cooperville actually
1:47.3	no longer exists and it was inundated with water in order to create Applegate Lake in 1980.
1:55.0	So this area where they actually went camping no longer exists as a camping area.
