Welcome to our Rosary meditation.

Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

The Count of Monte Cristo, originally Edmund Dantes, was treacherously betrayed

and sentenced to life in prison for a crime he did not commit.

Dante's eventually escaped, but concludes he was abandoned by God and everyone else.

Therefore he must rely on himself alone. There is no one he can trust. He alone must

control everything and protect himself against everything. In this process he becomes a slave to his obsession to

protect, to provide, and to control. Ironically, he saves two people whom society considers his slaves, Ali and Haiti.

The Count takes such good care of them that when they arrive in France, a country that had abolished slavery, technically

they could go free.

But they want to stay with the count, because they

trust him rely on the count and they are free,

free from anxiety, worry and fear,

totally in peace and content. Isn't it strange? We are set free

only by relying totally upon another, especially if that other is God.

The slaves are free in the Count of Monachristo, and the Count he is the slave because he is the slave, because he is given into the greatest lie of the devil.

And that lie is this. You are alone. No one has your back. There is no God guiding all things for good.

Everything depends on you. So get busy, stay on top, take control, and become a slave to your own obsession.

But this is a lie, it's not reality, You are not alone. Your soul is seen. God knows you. He understands you. He knows all your desires and he wants you to be happy and he cares for you.
