My grandma lives alone.

Of course that wasn't true all the time.

It's just a reality of getting older for most people.

While we all want to live a long life, the harsh truth is you may outlive so many people that used to fill your days.

Unfortunately, my grandma would end up needing an alarm system

after being targeted by intruders. There is one time that teenagers broke into her

home, but the scarier intrusion was when someone was actually living in her basement without her knowledge.

We had cameras installed on the exterior doors.

We even had cameras installed in certain parts inside her house, specifically the kitchen, because that's where the basement door was.

They were coupled with motion sensors that would take pictures when anyone approached

and send them to her phone.

Needless to say, we were convinced she would be fine.

There was one day I was at work. I got a text from her. She had received a picture from

her security cameras. The motion sensor detected someone in her kitchen. My first thought was, it's weird that her

exterior sensors didn't go off, that means the intruder was in the house when she set the alarm.

She said that she assumed someone broke into her house,

but was even more shocked at what may have caused the kitchen center going off.

The picture was from that morning.

There was a man going through her fridge. The man going through her fridge.

The man looked like her deceased brother-in-law.
