Abandoned Delivery

This happened about 20 years ago, just a few weeks away from 2004. My wife and I planned a winter

getaway to Death Valley. A weekend in a hotel can do so much for any stage of a relationship.

It's even better when you're in love.

We left a little late in the day and ended up getting to our destination at night.

The hotel we booked was about 30 minutes outside of the actual Death Valley Town Center.

It wasn't as easy to find as we had imagined.

As I got annoyed with myself for leaving late, we finally found our hotel.

It was completely abandoned. Once the confusion subsided, I decided to take a closer look at the hotel. My wife gets spooked easily so she stayed in the car. I walked around the back curious to find

any reason why the hotel was abandoned. Maybe there would be weathered police tape on an

entrance or even a window. Hell if I could find way in, maybe I could convince my wife to take a risk and stay in this

abandoned hotel until the sun comes up.

You only die once.

As I come around the final corner of the hotel, I see a man outside of my car. I quickly run up.

The man looked abandoned himself.

His outfit could have been from any era after the 80s and possibly the near future.

He had a stack of newspapers in his arms.

The moment I get close enough to say anything, this man panics.

He says, please take these to Death Valley, hands me the stack of newspapers and runs off.

I quickly get into the car.

Strangely, I didn't abandon the newspapers.
