Trump and senior policy strategists at the White House. May was a legal advisor during the first Trump administration and spent time in the office of the

chief of staff and the staff secretary's office.

During the president's second term, she served as the White House senior policy strategist.

Today she joins me to offer a behind-the-scenes look at her time in the White House and

her thoughts on having it all.

Hey, Karen.

On President Trump's first day in office in a second term, he signed an executive order declaring it was the policy of

the United States to recognize two sexes, male and female. Why was this necessary? That is a good

question, but we have found ourselves in a place where it is necessary. And I think one of those

really obvious things is actually women's prisons,

which people don't think about, but that is something that's in legislation that you create

women's prisons and that's where you send female prisoners. And yet women's prisons were being

treated as if they were essentially co-ed so long as someone identifies as a female.

And so with Independent Women's Forum before the Trump administration was elected, we did a lot of work

in getting sex definitions enacted in the States.

So there was already Kansas, I think, was the first

one overrode a governor's veto. Then there were a couple of executive actions, including out

of Nebraska. So this is something that was picking up steam. I think something that we felt was
