Today I want to talk to you about a word.

It's the word confession.

Your public declaration of where you stand.

Matthew chapter 10 is the most complete

segment in the Bible on discipleship.

The clear definition of discipleship is given in chapter 10 of Matthew because he says in

verse 24 it is enough for a disciple who is not above his teacher nor a slave is above his master it is enough

for the disciple that he become like his teacher and the slave like his master. The idea of discipleship is to become like the person that you are

following. That's the goal. But then he goes on to describe what he says in secret, speak in the light.

What he says in private, go public with it, which leads him to this statement in verse 22 and 23.

Therefore everyone who confesses me before men,

I will confess him before my father who is in heaven.
