Summer's in full swing, and in many areas of the U.S., that means it's getting hot, which also means, of course, that air conditioners are working overtime. These days,

most newly built homes in the U.S., especially those in hotter areas, come equipped with central air.

But of all the homes in the U.S. that have air conditioning, roughly 20% of them rely on individual sources of AC.

Yep, I'm talking about good old-fashioned window units. In the Northeast U.S., around 60% of homes rely on individual units for either their primary or secondary source of AC.

In places like New York City, home to older buildings, of course, that percentage

jumps to around 80. In those parts of the country, dusting off the window unit is something of a summer
