podcast of the St Paul Center. In Matthew 13 our Lord told his disciples,

every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven

is like a householder who brings out of his treasure

what is new and what is old. In a couple of months we are going to transition to a new season of

Road to a Mayas podcast with lots of new material reading sacred scripture from the heart of the

church. But today I want to go back to the

storehouse and bring out an old treasure. It's one that a number of people have

been asking for ever since we started the Road to a Mayas podcast.

Not long after I became Catholic, I recorded a series of talks on the biblical and theological

insights that led me to leave my ministry as a Presbyterian pastor and be

received into the Catholic Church. It was called answering common objections.

It covers the big issues that came up for us Protestants who are looking into Catholicism things like the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Saints the Pope the Eucharist and purgatory.

Apart from the conversion story itself, this became the most widely circulated series of talks I've ever done.

Several of these talks would grow into books over the years.

The series itself is the basis for the large

middle section of my book, Reasons to Believe. They were recorded on tape back in the

early 90s, so you'll hear some background noises and perhaps some dated
