So college football has in 2026 this upcoming season an etched in place 12-team playoff once again.

Four teams getting a first round by, seated, by the way, based on strength.

That's not the way it worked in year one back in the 20-24 season.

But last year, it was ceded, the seeding the field by strength.

The top four teams got buys.

Then we had, you know, a 512, 611, 7, 10, 8, 9, first round game in actual home sites.

Those four football games produced, those games produced four winners.

Those eight teams produced four winners, which then joined the four by week teams for

quarterfinal games, which then started to utilize the bowl sites, and then

the semifinal games were bull sites, and then the national championship game in a standalone

site. That is going to be the case again in 2026. However, there's been a lot of talk in the

sport of college football about expanding the postseason.

We saw that college basketball just expanded their NCAA tournaments from 68 to 76 teams.

Not a big fan of that, but whatever.

College football has a big debate right now about where the playoff should go. The Big Ten is very much in favor of a 24-team

college football playoff, doubling the size of the playoff field beginning with the 2027 season.

The SEC, however, and these are the two conferences that matter the most, they prefer an

expansion to 16 teams.
