Welcome in to a bonus episode of the PFF College Football Show, Max Chadwick, alongside Dalton Wasserman, right here.

0:26.5

We're going to break down the absolutely chaotic coaching carousel that we have in college football right now.

0:34.1

What we're going to do on the show is, first of all, rank the nine open power

0:38.6

four jobs right now. And also Dalton, we're each going to predict who the next head coach

0:43.9

will be for all nine of these power four programs. And listen, there are nine jobs open in the power

0:50.0

four right now. We might have more by the time the season's over and also Dalton considering

0:55.2

some of these jobs we're going to talk about are some massive jobs in college football there

0:59.8

could be power for coaches that leave their current jobs for those bigger opportunities

1:05.6

which could create even more chaos in the coaching carousel I'm not sure we've ever seen this many

1:09.6

big time domino's about to fall in one cycle right You've got a lot of candidates that multiple teams are after. You've got candidates from other major schools that could jump ship and take one of these jobs. And then we have to talk about the coaching searches for those schools, right? Obviously, plenty of the names we're going to get into our high profile names at high profile jobs already. So it's going to be an interesting cycle with a lot of different surprises, I think, that are going to come along the way.

1:31.1

Absolutely. to get into our high profile names at high profile jobs already. So it's going to be an interesting cycle with a lot of different surprises, I think, that are going to come along the way.

1:43.7

And Dalton, I also want to rank these jobs first.

1:47.0

I kind of give an idea of where at least I think these jobs stand in college football right now

1:53.0

and how I would rank the attractiveness of each job.

1:55.0

So actually, I listed them in order on the desk.

1:58.0

You can see right here as well.

1:59.0

These are my rankings of the jobs right now. LSU at number one, I think it's probably around a top five job in the country, even with all the questionable leadership right now at that university. Penn State, I think, is around a top 10 or so job in the country. Florida's right in that range as well. I put Auburn somewhere in the top 20. Then my number four job open right now. Arkansas is probably somewhere in the top 25 to 30. Same thing for Virginia Tech. I still think Oklahoma State, even though it's been a rough couple of years for them, this is still a place where you could win in the Big 12. And then I got UCLA and Stanford at 8 and 9 in the Big 10. How do you think those rankings shakeout right there? I think they're pretty solid. I think there could, to me, to be a debate even about Florida and Auburn at 3 and 4. I think they're very, very close, maybe the closest of any two on that list right there. Auburn, obviously, with a track record of great recruiting and a high standard. I mean, both programs really with such high standards of winning except for the last decade or so, right? They're trying to really find that footing to get back in a national championship picture, even SEC contention, right? They've been kind of in that second and third layer of contenders for the last few years and really been struggling. But no, for the most part, I think it's about right. Obviously, an emphasis here on the SEC jobs. And that's really what we're finding here with this cycle also is it looks like

3:07.8

there's going to be a lot of turnover in that conference.

3:09.6

Yeah, four jobs open in the SEC right now. And you also have a job. I mentioned before Stanford. They're not in the Big Ten. Sorry, I mess up on that. But UCLA's open job in the Big Ten. Penn State's an open job in the Big Ten as well. yet a ton of jobs open right now. Like I said before, some more could be coming, whether or not

3:25.5

they be by firing the head coach of their program or by the head coach leaving their program for another job. Let's start off Dalton with my last ranked open job right now, but it's still an interesting one. I think the Stanford Cardinal right now with Andrew Luck as the general manager. Frank Reich is the interim coach right now.
