A few weeks ago, Kevin and I came across a story written by Stephanie Worsmith and Paula Shlice

in the Akron Beacon Journal, about a 1991 cold case, the murder of Roderick Clemens,

an assistant manager at a church's chicken in Akron, Ohio.

Paula, we knew, also had a podcast called Ohio Mysteries. We decided to call them up and ask

them about Roderick's case. Here is Stephanie. Roderick, this is January 13, 1991. Roderick got dropped

off at work. He worked at the church's chicken on a coffee road here, which is on the west side of

Akron and he didn't have a car and so he relied on his mom for transportation or sometimes the

manager of the restaurant would give him rights. He works his shift at churches and then toward

the end of the night, things are pretty slow. He tells the other employees they can take off and

so then he is sweeping up and counting the till for the day. He had the doors closed and we don't

know exactly what happened here, but somehow obviously he, you know, someone got in and then

stole the money and shot him in the head execution style in the women's bathroom of the restaurant.

So then about, I believe it was about 1130 then, the manager who planned to give him a ride home

that night, you know, comes in. He can't get in the front door of the store, it's glass-pained

windows, but sees that the back door is wide open and so then he goes in and finds Roderick in the

bathroom lying there and he is unfortunately already dead. There's no no help for him, even

then they call the paramedics and he tries to do what he can to help him. And here's Paula.
