Summary

Rob is campaigning for your right to express your opinions! There’s been a lot of stories recently around censorship, cancel culture and misinformation. Most recently the controversy involving Joe Rogan; the responses from other creators, celebrities and tech companies speaks volumes of the current situation and general feeling around these issues. We are at a pivotal moment in the creator, media and information space, deciding what it will look like in the future and that includes the role of free speech. In this bonus episode Rob talks all about this, why he thinks the reaction of a lot of the world is wrong and what he is planning to do about it! KEY TAKEAWAYS  If we don’t stand up now, we will lose the chance to. It will be too late. Who decides what is misinformation? Things are constantly changing in the world, for example, much of what was considered misinformation a few months ago around Covid has now been scientifically proven. No one wants hate speech but where is the line and who is allowed to make these decisions? We need to allow opposing views and discussion otherwise what world will we be living in? Joe Rogan has finally responded to all of the controversy. The main things he wanted to get across were:-He aims to interview different people for balance and varied perspective-He is the interviewer, the opinions of those he speaks to are just that, their opinions.-What was once misinformation can become true information and vice versa BEST MOMENTS   “Surely we’re all allowed our own opinion on our own podcast?” “It’s not about information and misinformation, it’s about opinion –vs-opinion, if we don’t allowed contrarian opinions against our own they we have bigger problems”   “If we allow ultimatums, to get rid of a creator because they don’t agree with them… that’s the thin edge of the wedge and we can’t let that happen” [Business, mindset, entrepreneur, disruptors] VALUABLE RESOURCES https://robmoore.com/ bit.ly/Robsupporter   https://robmoore.com/podbooks  rob.team ABOUT THE HOST Rob Moore is an author of 9 business books, 5 UK bestsellers, holds 3 world records for public speaking, entrepreneur, property investor, and property educator. So this censorship war with Spotify, Joe Rogan and artists like Joni Mitchell and Neil Young

0:13.5

is gathering great momentum up and reporting on it and I think that this could be a landmark

0:20.8

in the evolution of free speech which is why I've been watching it closely and making my opinions

0:28.4

very clear. Now I'm going to talk to you about Harry and Meghan waiting in and their pressure.

0:35.2

I'm going to talk to you about the response from Spotify and interestingly Joe Rogan has just

0:41.6

published an official response as well. So I've done three or four videos charting the journey of

0:47.4

this. You can watch them on my Facebook page if you want to see what's going on. I don't want to

0:52.0

repeat myself too much but quick summary is Neil Young went at Spotify threatening them to remove

1:00.4

his content if they didn't remove Joe Rogan's content which he called dangerous misinformation.

1:08.9

Spotify stood strong and said no and said that they have removed 20,000 pieces of content on

1:16.4

home misinformation and so Neil Young left Spotify. Joni Mitchell followed and others have

1:23.6

chipped in. Spotify's market cap went down from reportedly between two billion and four billion,

1:30.9

two billion in two days which whether you like Spotify or not doesn't really seem fair to me.

1:38.0

Surely we're all allowed our own opinion on our own podcast. So that's the story to date

1:43.4

and I've been pushing hard to protect the free speech for Joe Rogan and not to press your

1:51.1

platforms into canceling others and that it's easy for us not to take action when it's not us

1:57.7

but you know I think we should take action even when it's not us. I've got a 90 day shadow

2:03.6

ban on YouTube for saying food has been hard for small businesses. In fact it wasn't even me.

2:09.8

It was my guest that said it. The fact of the matter is that the C word has been hard for small

2:16.0

business. That's fact not misinformation. I got accused of misinformation from YouTube and I got

2:21.9

banned 90 day ban and people are getting banning left, right and center on mainstream social media
