The Cats of Cobblestone Road.

The most important cat of all on Cobblestone Road was Brandy Snap.

His body was like a large, fuzzy barrel, and he had

paws the size of cupcakes. Rumor was he stole his tremendously bushy tail from a fox. He was in

charge because he was brave enough to walk the whole length of Cobblestone Road bossing the other

cats about as he went. After all, someone had to be in charge, didn't they? Now, Cobblestone Road is not in fact covered in cobblestones. It's a normal sort of road, long and straight from the high street at one end to the big road with the buses and traffic jams at the other. You'd think it would be a noisy road with all those beeping horns, squeaking brakes and engines and people thundering around,

but if you walked along Cobblestone Road, you'd find the noise would ebb away with every house

you passed, in a long line of terraced houses, all a little the same and a little different too.

Simba, a slim tabby, sat on the wall licking of paw and wandering about the chances of there being ham in her human's fridge.

Brandy snap jumped onto the wall and gave her a growl, just for practice, really,

frightening poor Simba into a high leap.

She trembled for the rest of the day. It would not come out from under the bed. Not even one poor at all.

She did not like Brandy Snapp at all.

Reggie and Ronnie observed this from an upstairs window across the street.

They were black and white blotchy brothers, and velvety black those blotches were.

He's such a bully, observed Reggie.

Someone should tell him off. Really they should. It's just not right that we let him push us all around. Good idea, said Ronnie. You definitely should say something to him. I'll back us up. Well, from our window, at least, I really will. No sense both of us meeting a gruesome end, is there? Reggie went quiet and then decided that a ticklish piece of fur

needed a thorough licking, and that was absolutely the most important thing for him to be doing at

that time. No more was said about Brandy Snap. Brandy Snap ambled in through the open cat flap at number 26.

ate the rather good cat food that Farley's owners preferred.

Brandy Snat preferred it too, and would be sure to barge in shortly after breakfast time,
