| 0:40.0 | Sure. I like to say that I'm that story of like being the extroverted geeky kid totally paid off. |
| 0:47.0 | So I'm 38 at the time of this recording and no one really knew what to do with a girl who was playing with the internet because this is back in the early 90s. |
| 0:58.0 | So I was on the internet. I was a kind of a lonely kid and I really found a lot of community online back like ICQ kind of days. |
| 1:06.0 | And so as I approached high school, I was also a very artistic, artistic kid, but no one knew my, in my area, I'm up here in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. |
| 1:16.0 | No one really knew what to do with a young girl who had an interest in computers, |
| 1:20.0 | but wasn't into computer science and wasn't into robotics and also really bad at math. |
| 1:25.0 | The idea of having a career, a job in the internet was not a thing. |
| 1:30.0 | So it was recommended to me to go into graphic design because hey they use computers so I went in there got a great degree but I still kind of kept up |
| 1:37.7 | Working with computers and also I was really heavily involved at the time in a very feminist church which I'm no longer a part of but so I had this community aspect and I had this tech and this geekiness and then as the internet kind of became a place that you could get work, I transition my graphic |
| 1:55.4 | design background into building websites and then from there I kind of sort of toe dipping into marketing |
| 2:01.9 | because I was really curious why the designs worked and why they didn't. |
| 2:06.1 | I also was blessed I did a lot of work inside of like newspaper so a newspaper industry |
