After archaeologist Dr. Margaret Sinclair uncovered William de Soulis’s hidden chamber in 1987, her discovery electrified the academic world. The medieval texts and artifacts found beneath Hermitage Castle promised to revolutionize the study of occult practices in the Middle Ages. But the researchers who began translating de Soulis’s journals soon encountered something deeply disturbing. One by one, the scholars studying the manuscripts began to suffer strange and catastrophic fates. A research partner died suddenly after filling pages with symbols identical to those found in the necromancer’s journals. A linguist attempting to decode the texts suffered a complete psychological break.And Dr. Sinclair herself began documenting communications with the same supernatural entity that had once spoken to William de Soulis centuries earlier. The entity called itself The Teacher. And it was offering her the same bargain.
