It's February 1st, 2010, and this is The Candid Frame. This month officially marks the third year of the show.

And in thinking about what I could do to note the occasion, I thought I'd do something

completely different. So today's interview is not with a photographer, but a musician. Now, before

you think that odd and wonder what it has anything to do with photography, I suggest that you

may be very surprised at the similarities that you share. My guest, Stefan Oberhof, is a jazz

musician and a close friend, and we've spent many nights talking about what it means to be an artist.

It was during one of those conversations that I got the idea to do this show. Now, this episode is

much longer than most candid frame episodes,

but I hope that you find every minute of this show interesting

and hopefully a little inspirational.

Well, we're going to do something different with today's show. For the last two years,

I've been interviewing photographers. And I thought that, wow, wouldn't it be interesting to have

someone who isn't a photographer, has

nothing to do with photography, to discuss something that I'm always fascinated by and probably

preoccupied by, and that's just the nature of creativity and the challenges that we face as

artist.

And so I'm having my friend Stefan, and how do you see your last name? Oberhof.

Oberhof as a guest on the show because we often have discussions about just this, about getting

past our hurdles, being creative, in the many obstacles that we face in trying to do the things that we do.
