It's March 14th, 2009, and this is the Candid Frame.

Before we begin, I just wanted to mention my new podcast, Shooting with Alas.

It's a video podcast about photography.

But unlike this show, it's more about the process of making images

and telling stories. The most recent episode, which was recorded at the San Anita Racetrack,

and Profiles Horse Trainer Eddie Truman, is an example of the path the show was going to

follow. You will see a big difference between the first and second episode,

and that's because this is a work in progress. But I believe we're on to something with this

latest episode, and I welcome your feedback and thoughts. There is a link to the show on the

Today's guest is actually two guests, Seth Joel and Charlie Holland, a husband and wife team, a first for the show.

Seth comes from a family of photographers,

his father being the famed life photographer, Yale Joel.

Charlie is a former photo editor and photo director who's worked at Premier Magazine and Getty Images.

Together, they produce natural-looking images of people

for commercial and advertising work,

which includes a good amount of images for stock.

Photography is often a solitary endeavor for the most part, and I was fascinated by the idea

of interviewing a couple whose life revolves around the world of seeing and making photographs.

Hearing the perspective of two unique and interesting people provide me a wonderful hour of conversation and I hope you will enjoy it.
