Summary

Toky is an editorial and fashion photographer who was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico. Toky discovered photography by accident due to a graphic design job he was doing. After enrolling in his first photography class, he became a dark room addict and his career path changed instantaneously. Four years later Toky has shot dozens of editorials, magazine and album covers and fashion advertising campaigns. He currently lives and works in the Los Angeles, CA. Also a musician Toky plays the piano, the violin, the saxophone and is a trained singer. He is 30 years old. You can discover more of his work by visiting his website. Today's guest is Toki, a photographer who attended one of my own alma maters, Los Angeles City College.

And what I like about Toki's story is not just the quality of images that he's produced

over the last several years, but just the fact that he went to a program that is relatively

small compared to some of the other photographic learning institutions that are out there,

and just really made the most of the resources and

the people that make up this program at Los Angeles City College. A lot of people,

when they think about learning photography at a city college, think about, you know, taking

one or two classes to get better knowledge and a better grasp of what they can do with the

cameras. But Toki is a photographer

who used it as a launching pad to make a career. And it really speaks to the whole idea of really

making the most of whatever circumstances you have and just squeezing everything out of it and making the most out of it.

You know, my life was transformed as a result of attending City College and I love hearing

stories about other people who have done the same and he is a shining example of that.
