Whenever I fall into a photographic run, I try to find a way of challenging myself.

It can be a new subject matter or a new approach with a familiar subject.

But whichever path I follow, it comes down to finding a way of getting out of my comfort zone.

The images may not always be successful, but that's really the

point. It's about working in unfamiliar territory and learning from it in a way that keeps my

photographs fresh and interesting, not only for me, but for the people who view them. It's just

such a challenge that photographer Sarah Brooke Lyons created for herself with her

1,05 Faces project.

With it, she has a goal of photographing 1,05 people in the city of San Antonio, Texas.

In capturing these portraits of a diverse community, she has challenged herself not only creatively,

but personally, as she uses the project to counter

her tendency for isolation. As you'll see when you visit the links in the show notes, the

portraits that include a short note written by each subject provides an interesting glimpse

into the personalities that make up San Antonio.
