David Strick has worked as an editorial, advertising and corporate photographer whose interest in the entertainment world has led him to originate documentary behind-the-scenes print and web features for major media companies, including eleven years of producing a monthly photo column for Premiere Magazine entitled “David Strick’s Hollywood,” 2 ½ years of originating and photographing a web/print feature called “David Strick’s Hollywood Backlot” for the Los Angeles Times, and a web/print feature for The Hollywood Reporter, entitled “David Strick’s Hollywood.” He has taught at Art Center College of Design, lectured at UCLA Extension, and the Photographic Resource Center at Boston University. If you've lived in Los Angeles all your life, you may not realize how strange the city can be.

Sometimes it takes leaving the city and coming back to recognize some of the absurdity that exists in this town.

And I look at a lot of photographs that are made by photographers from and who live outside of Los Angeles who come to the city.

And many of them don't capture the absurdity of that they exist in this town.

But David Strick is certainly that exception because his work for the last several decades has definitely tapped into that.

It started as a result of an editorial assignment, but since then,

he's been making his living as an editorial, advertising, and corporate photographer,

focusing mostly on the motion picture industry.

And if movies and television is the only way that you know anything about Los Angeles,

while you're kind of missing out, because this place can be the source of some great humor,

and David's images really reveal that.

You may be familiar with some of his photographs because he had a regular photo column in

Premier Magazine and later in the Los Angeles Times.

And when you take a look at his photographs, you get to see how weird this city can be.

And it's one of the great things about his photographs that I appreciate so much.
